Scotia Cover to Newfoundland, mailed from Sydney NS on FEB.3.1868 to St John's Newfoundland (FEB.17 receiver) through Halifax (oval transit), franked with a 1c, 2c and two 5c Nova Scotia stamps, each tied by a bold oval grid cancel, overpaying
the 12½c rate by ½c (there were no ½c stamps issued). Couple of stamp and cover faults, still a fairly scarce post-Confederation use of Nova Scotia stamps, as the Large Queen issues were not to arrive until at least April 1st. Scott # 8, 9, 10.
