381 PC   imageCollection of Used Great Britain U.P.U. Postal Stationery Cards, 1876 to 1899, with a total of 67 used cards, 14 of which are well researched and written-up. We note a good variety of postal card types, many useful postmarks, a few were uprated, destinations include France, Italy, United States, Germany, Canada, Newfoundland, Sweden, Netherlands, India, Prussia, Bermuda, Spain, St. Kitts, Australia, Russia, Switzerland, Romania, Burma, "Asiatic Turkey", Egypt, Austria, Panama, one card (return portion) was mailed from Trinidad to GB and a few cards have been mailed to and from British Agencies in Constantinople. Also includes 4 maps of Europe printed in 1890. A few small faults, still very nice quality throughout, see our online pictures for a sampling from this lovely collection. Second has a fine "GUERNSEY / FEB.17.1837" double arc datestamp on front and is datelined inside "Guernsey Feby 17th, 1837", with a FEB.19.1937 GPO receiver in red on back. 383 CVR   imageGroup of Three Covers Mailed from Guernsey, 1857-1886, first is a folded letter to France, with Guernsey DEC.26.1857 double arc in blue despatch on back, 4d rose tied by "324" oval grid, with PD (paid to destination) and "Iles C / St Malo / 23 / DEC / 57" datestamp in red, very fine; Second is a cover with letter inside (in French, complaining that "the kitchen you built me is leaking rain water"), endorsed "Local Post" addressed to a master carpenter in Copo, Guernsey, with Guernsey JAN.12.1871 duplex tying a 1p red stamp (plate 136), very fine; Third is a GB Penny Pink stationery envelope mailed AUG.2.1886 (Guernsey "326" duplex) to Marazion, England (AUG.4 receiver) through Hayle (AUG.4 transit) and Bristol (indistinct backstamp), with opening tears at top.
