203 CVR   image1913 The Only Known Example of the Winnipeg “Eaton’s" Machine Cancel, a "T. Eaton & Co. Importers / Winnipeg" corner card cover mailed from Winnipeg on SEP.17.1913 (Int’l machine cancel ties a 2c carmine Admiral coil) to the Parliament Building in Regina, Saskatchewan. The back of the cover shows a very fine and complete strike of the so far unique “EATON’S” International slogan machine cancel, dated SEP.17.1913 (3 hours previous to the despatch cancel on front). Very fine, and a major Canadian postmark rarity (the earliest known slogan machine cancel in Canada), a must have for the serious machine cancel collector. The cover is illustrated and fully described in an article by Rob Leigh and Hugo Deshaye in the PHSC Journal No. 130 (p.18-19). (Scan 1) (Scan 2) (All Scans) (All Images)

204 PC   image1914 (Dec. 28) Early Experimental Montréal Lamoureux on an Admiral Windsor Street Station Illustrated Card, a very fine undated strike (four short lines with a diagonal "MONTREAL" between them) mailed on DEC.28.1924 (dated financial statement on back) on a 2c Admiral "Windsor Hotel Station Lunch Room, Montréal, P.Q." bi-colour illustrated CPR card, very fine. Unlisted, and Leigh assesses this may be an early (the earliest) Lamoureux, based on the fact that their patents date to late 1914s. Also, being on a card typically found with Lamoureux cancels, there is a strong possibility that this is the earliest Lamoureux postmark. Very fine, and so far unique. Open on all four sides, still as far as we know there are only a few of these known, all on incoming covers from Russia. (Scan 1) (Scan 2) (All Scans) (All Images)

215 CVR   image5c Beaver on an 1864 Registered Cover with Privately Made 3-Ring #45 Postmark, mailed from Kilmarnock C.W on FEB.3.1864 (double broken circle is the new LRD) to the Canada Company in Toronto (partial receiver) via Brockville (partial transit). Franked with a 5c Beaver paying the domestic letter rate, with the registration fee paid in cash, the stamp is cancelled with a very fine strike of the rare (only 2 known) 3-ring #45. Up until now, only one other example of this postmark was known (once in the Cohen collection, on a similar 5c Beaver cover) and dismissed by some, both on pure assumption because of the number of fake cancels Cohen owned, but also because only one was known, and like this one, it did not tie the stamp to the cover. Because of its provenance, this example now proves the genuineness of the other, and vice-versa. Many creases (including through the stamp) and opening tears, else a desirable postmark, which could (should) be categorized as a "fancy cancel". Ex "Brouse find”.
