Two Collections of Mint and Used New Zealand on Pages, first one starts off with 12 used Chalon portraits, with #s (as per owner, unchecked by us) 15, 17, 19, 20, 25b, 31, 38, 41, 42, 43, 44 (owner's c.v. of $2,200). These followed by a collection of mint and used (#s 122/404 and B1/B6, O38/O56), plus 4 pages of duplicated used early definitives Catalogue after the Chalons was $890, for a total of $3,090 (in 2014). Second collection is on 13 S.G. quadrille pages and starts with 6 Chalons (mostly faulty) followed by a decent collection of mostly used to about1980s. Accumulation of Mint and Used Back of the Book New Zealand, 1900s-1950s, with a few hundred stamps, in album pages, glassines, and dealer cards. The lot primarily contains mint and or used officials, along with airmails and postage dues. A cursory check revealed a few interesting items such as Scott #s J1-J4, J7, J11 (used, c.v. $393 total), J22-J29 (mh, $80 total), C1, C3-C4 (mh, $77 total), O29 (x2, 1 mh, 1 used, $325 total), O92-O99 (mh, $77 total), leaving other finds to the dedicated collector, including Scott O9 "O.P.S.O." overprint in blue. These were purchased as new issues from the PNG Philatelic Bureau (includes 11 envelopes from there with stamps not yet mounted in collection). Appears very close to complete in period, mainly in blocks of four (or larger) or corner plate blocks of four. While there is more mint than used, the value is in the used (a couple are on piece), including #18-20, 23-24. These regular issues catalogue U$492.00 by 2024 Scott. Plus, there are four “2-perf pairs”, including a scarce used 1sh pair which list in Stanley Gibbons at £420 alone. The blended catalogue value comes to C$1,445.

Small Group of Early Mint South African Items, starting with four different mint never hinged 6d Orange Tree bilingual pairs, including shades, a pair with center arrow and one with plate inscription, followed by three different blocks of the 1d van Riebeek's Ship issue, including two plate number blocks of six (cylinder 6A and 6B, one stamp is hinged) and a plate number block of 12 (two stamps are lightly hinged). Then we have a mint coil strip of 6 each of the ½d and the 1d (Scott 98, 99, both never hinged), and a lightly hinged mint corner plate inscription block of Scott #s 62 and 63. Also includes three different mint hinged ½d Springbock pairs, one without overprint (South Africa), one overprinted S.W.A. and one overprinted South West Africa in two sideways lines.
