A very fine trio.

982 E/P 165TCP/169DP image1920 ½d / 6d Victory Issue Group of Proofs and Colour Trials, with a ½d in dark brown with SPECIMEN overprint on perforated, stamp paper (no gum), a 3d in an imperforate single in purple with SPECIMEN overprint (no gum), and a horizontal imperforate pair in colour of issue on gummed (never hinged) stamp paper. Also a 6d die proof in a lilac shade, with SPECIMEN overprint on gummed stamp paper – probably from a trade sample sheet. Very fine.

992 og 190, 192 image1935 3d Maori Girl and 5d Striped Marlin, a pair of scarcer corner plate blocks from the first (single watermark) printing. The 3d with a partial “2” plate number (Campbell Paterson L6a[4]) - a full plate number would catalogue 5x more. The 5d with a full plate “1” inscription (CP L8a[4]). Each has a nice appearance, but there is a bit of minor aging to both, lightly hinged and nicely centered.

993 O 210 var image1935 5d Violet Blue Swordfish, with the Multiple Watermark from the Final Printing of the 1935 Definitives, used, with a light slogan cancel postmark, with an inverted watermark - a key rarity of this popular series. Has two slightly shorter perfs mentioned for the record, and a light crease that has been pressed out, and can only be seen in watermark fluid. 2020 Campbell Paterson L8f[Y] - NZ$1,250.

994 nh 212a var, O68B var imageTwo Upper-Centre Blocks of the 1935 8d “Tuatara” (One Regular, One Official), with the Elusive “Shift Markings”, Both Perforated 12½, which resulted from production issues with the Waterlow printing factory bombings during the London Blitz. The result was a series of printed dots in the upper selvedge. Ideally comes as a centre block to show the cutting guide plus the notation from the Campbell Paterson catalogue. Both are mint never hinged (hinged in the margin only). Great lot for the specialist, comes with a photocopy of the CP description. 2020 Campbell Paterson #s L10d[Z], LO10d[X], NZ$750.
