Trans-Atlantic Flight Cover, mailed from St. John’s on APR.12.1919 (light machine cancel) to The Daily Mail in London, England, franked with an unusually well centered Newfoundland #C1. the 3c red brown Caribou with commemorative overprint
(slightly moved from its original position, as most were, due to immersion in sea water), tied by the St. John’s machine cancel. There is a “By Aeroplane from Newfoundland” endorsement at top left. The back has an official label reading "Found Open
or Torn and Officially Sealed" with a Liverpool MAY.30.1919 datestamp (very few of the known covers have this label). Open on three sides for display, very fine. Accompanied by a 2009 Philatelic Foundation certificate. A rare and world famous
Trans-Atlantic pioneer flight, with 80 covers flown and as few as half known to have survived. (Scan 1)
