568 CVR 24 image2c Large Queen on an 1870s Folded Printed Matter, probably mailed to and from Québec City (c.d.s. tying stamp is unclear), franked with a very fine 2c Large Queen paying the double circular rate. The inside is printed in both French and English "Extract from the 11th Chap. Consolidated Statutes for Lower Canada", very fine.

569 CVR 24 image2c Large Queen "Adjacent Rate" on an 1870 Cover, mailed from Cayuga CW on JUN.9.1870 to Caledonia, franked with a 2c deep green Large Queen (short perfs at top, tied by concentric rings cancel) paying the "county" or "adjacent" rate (there are roughly 10 miles between the two towns). Arfken notes in part "The postal guides make no reference to this exceptional rate. The arrangements may have been informal between the two local postmasters involved.". A replaced backflap does not detract from this otherwise very fine cover and interesting rate. The Wayne Smith census records only 7 such usages.

This yellow cover is franked with a 2c deep green LQ and a 3c red LQ, both paying the registration fee and domestic letter rate, both tied to each other by a very fine strike of the 2-ring #7. Slightly reduced at left, still a very fine and fresh cover.
