1803 c, entire, etc. imageNew Zealand: Crash and Wreck Mail: 1973 (July 19) charred and reduced window airmail envelope (with part contents) to Christchurch with Netherlands 95c. meter franking. Hijacked from the Amsterdam to Tokyo flight the following day by Palestinian terrorists and flown to Benghazi (Libya) airport who blew up the plane. 1975 letter recovered and with a typed official Christchurch P.O. explanatory label and with a contemporary newspaper cutting also a copy of the Tokyo P.O. reporting form accompanying mail to New Zealand, a rare destination for this incident.
