The letter (typed transcript included) to the writer’s father and brother and datelined at Messina (London G.P.O. Instruction of Aug. 13 1811 extended privilege to forces in Sicily who remained active there during the Napoleonic Wars) “...the inhabitants of this place had formed a conspiracy against us and was [sic] intending to have carried off our Gun Boats to the French...” and “The milk and butter is (sic) very dear but we use olive oil instead....” and probably carried on “Princess Charlotte” to Falmouth.
