803 On piece, front, etc. imageFalkland Islands: 1939 Battle of the River Plate, “Graf Spee” Internees, four Argentine Naval Ministry parole slips (‘furloughs’) from Isla Martin Garcia camp permitting leave of absence until midnight and noted “Hotel Adam”, reputed to be the local brothel, individually signed by Stbs-Masch. Gutwasser, Stbs-Bootsmann Jung, Bootsmaat Bluhm and Steuermannsmaat Dorsch, dated between Nov. 6 1941 and Aug. 6 1942, two with “Kriegsmarine/Kommando Panzerschiff Admiral Graf Spee” cachet in blue-green. Between April 1940 and the end of 1941, all but six of the Graf Spee officers, and about 200 technical NCOs, absconded from their internment and returned to Germany where the majority served in the U-boat Arm. J. Robinson of the 11th West Yorks. Regt. to his wife in Leeds. In 1942 the F.I.D.F. had been reinforced by the West Yorks (Prince of Wales Own) and 359th Heavy Anti-Aircraft Battery, Royal Artillery.
