1367 imageIndia. Airmail. Registered letter, dispatched from Nova Goa on February 27, 1935. Postage of 11 Tangas. Via Karachi- France, corrected to Karachi Italy. Traveled by train to Karachi, by Imperial Airways to Brindisi, and then by train to Paris, Lisbon, Porto, and Felgueiras. Upon arrival in Alexandria, the route was changed from Alexandria-Athens-Brindisi to the alternative route Alexandria-Tobruk-Malta-Brindisi, due to the start of the Greek Rebellion. Traveled by air with the Flying boat short Kent G-ABFA Scipius, to Malta, and from Malta to Brindisi Flying Boat Sylvanus. Rare.(Image 1) (Image 2)

All the stamps are tied by a “Mapuca” registration postmark. “Mapuca” registration label on the front. On the back a “Nova-Goa” transit registration octagon postmark, 2 “New York” double oval postmarks and a magenta “Columbus” registration receiving postmark. Wax seals intact. India 1945 registered commercial cover from Nova-Goa to Belgaum and then reused and resent from Belgaum to Bombay, franked with Imperio issue 1 tanga x 8 (Mf# 353) Note: at least two 1 tanga stamps are under the Bombay address label. Registration number in pencil on the front. The cover arrived in Belgaum and was reused and redirected to Bombay with British India King George VI issues (1 Anna x 4). The envelope was likely censored but without the usual Mf#nsor markings. The octagonal “G 2” is a very late WWII Mf#nsor mark. Indistinct Belgaum postmarks on the back and tying the British India stamps dated August 25th, 1945. Kalbadevi Bombay arrival CDS on the back. Heavily toned with damage right.
