1852 (1 Jan.) Lithographed by Waterlow & Sons. Four Cents An Extraordinary and Unique Usage on Cover. Four Cents. 1853 (16 Feb.) entire letter from London to Demerara with despatch c.d.s., manuscript rate and
arrival datestamp (10.3) on reverse, then redirected to Berbice the following day with previous application of 4c black on deep blue, tied by Demerara double-arc. d.s., stamp with filing fold and minor repairs but clear framelines all around. To our
knowledge, a unique usage of this stamp as forwarding postage, as well as on incoming mail. This represents an extraordinary feature for the period, making it exceptional among the early issues of British Guiana. Bühler (1964) and Hunziker (1965)
