An Exceptional Cut Square, Sound Example of the Rarest Shade of 12 Cents. 12c. black on indigo, so-called sugar paper shade, initialled "E.D.W., cut square with circular frameline cut into on two sides, cancelled by Berbice double-arc d.s., apparently free of faults. The rarest shade of the 12 cents value, with only eleven recorded examples according to Townsend. 69 5 image1850-51 "Cottonreels". The "Hind" and "Dale Lichtenstein" 4 Cents on Pelure Paper. 4c. black on pale yellow on pelure paper Type A, initialled "W.H.L.", cut approximately square with huge margins, on piece lightly cancelled by Demerara double-arc d.s. with another strike alongside clearly dated 2 March 1851; a few light wrinkles (appropriate to a pelure paper and of no significance in this instance) and a variation in the paper colour caused by a varying effect of the gum on the whiteness of the paper. A great rarity of the British Empire, with only sixteen recorded examples of this stamp in private hands, including two on cover-, six of which are cut square, and four of which have complete margins, making this one of the best in terms of margins. One Cent The Unique Cover Bearing the Largest Multiple. 1853 (5 Mar.) entire from Sparta to Georgetown, bearing 1c. black on magenta strip of four Types I-II-I-II, sheet margin at left, good to large margins on the other sides, each centrally cancelled by fine "b g/a 5 c" c.d.s. (Type D1) and showing, on reverse, arrival double-arc d.s. (6.3); the second stamp crossed by vertical crease. The unique cover exhibiting the largest multiple of this stamp, with additionally two strips of four and two blocks of four recorded in used condition off cover.
