107   imageMexico. 1856 "Hidalgos". Zacatecas 8r. Lilac, used on registered cover front from Sombrerete to Zacatecas dated May 24, 1860, and arrival on May 28 alongside. Stamp has large margins all around. Front is creased and slightly aged. On reverse, on May 28, annotated as received by the addressee and signed, as stipulated by the postal rules. Very few registered fronts have survived, as the standard procedure was to return them to the originating post office as proof of receipt, where they were kept for two years before being destroyed. Various Districts Assembly comprising over 115 used stamps, including many districts such as Apam, Chihuahua, Guadalajara, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, Zacatecas, Puebla, Jalapa, Huejutla, Veracruz, Morelia, Oaxaca, Lagos, Orizava, Mazatlán, and others. Over 60 are ½r. blue, and there are three 8r. lilac (one with jumbo margins). Several small-town cancellations enhance this lot, including Sombrerete (a bisect on piece with MEPSI certificate), Atlixco, Tuxpan, Temascaltepec, San Juan de los Lagos, San Juan del Río, Chalchicomula, and Sayula. The lot also includes three blocks of four ½r. blue from Monterrey, Guadalajara, and Mexico, a rare strip of four 1r. yellow from Puebla, and a Zacatecas manuscript overprint. The covers include: Toluca entire with two pairs not tied but with clear docketing and a partial wrapper with a single from Puebla with four margins, tied with h.s. from Tepeji de la Seda, and with a 2025 MEPSI certificate. The stamps are from Zacatecas, Guadalajara, Cordova and one unoveprinted lightly struck Perote, aged and with foxing with a MEPSI certificate which does not attribute it to the direct shipment. Various Districts Group of 24 carefully selected stamps chosen for their freshness and visual appeal, along with one cover, with most stamps featuring three or four margins. The material originates from the districts of Victoria, Pachuca, Tulancingo, Zacatecas, and Huejutla, with cancellations from Atotonilco, Pachuca (piece with MEPSI certificate), Huauchinango, Tuxpan, Zacatecas, Angostadero, Fresnillo, Nieves, Aguascalientes, and Calvillo. One Victoria pair of medio real seems to have the rare Santa Barbara cancel. The cover bears one pair of 1r. Yellow cancelled in Tuxpan. Also included is a vivid ½r. The covers are particularly attractive, including a pristine Veracruz 2r. emerald cover sent first-rate to Mexico and a 4r. red cover addressed to Puebla. The group also contains 13 stamps used outside their district, as well as a 2r. printed on both sides. 118 Used   imageMexico. 1856 "Hidalgos". Various Districts Group of 38 stamps, several attractively presented in colorful combinations on piece, together with six appealing covers. Districts include the scarce Córdova, as well as Guadalajara and Mexico City. Highlights include two used blocks of four of the ½r. Blue, and three covers franked with the 4r. Red—one carried by Extraordinario express service, another paying the six reales rate. One cover bears a pair of 1r. Yellow with a red "Magdalena" handstamp, along with a six reales franking. A cover from San Juan de los Lagos shows a rare 1½r. rate from 1856. Also included is a striking piece bearing the 2r. Emerald (Scott #3b) alongside a ½r. Blue and two 1r.
