402 Proof   imageMexico. Later Issues. 1969 Puerto Vallarta unissued 40c. Proof in never hinged block of four with "1969" imprint at base, contrasting with the "1970" date featured in the issued stamp. According to Frederick Ingham, this stamp was proposed, and some sheets were printed in 1969 but never delivered to the post office. At least one complete sheet was stolen from the T.I.E.V. ("Talleres de Impresiones y Estampillas de Mexico", or "Mexico Impressions and Postal Stamps Workshop") and sold to a dealer. When a police investigation began, the price of the stamp significally increased, and it seems the inquiry was eventually abandoned. Scott 1010 var., (Image)

405   imageMexico. Later Issues. 1983 "Exporta" Issue 20 Pesos "Hierro Forjado", paper 5, 37.5 mm, featuring both known errors in a block of ten from positions 21 to 30, mint n.h. This remarkable multiple includes eight examples of the scarce 37.5 mm format (only 8,300 sheets issued), as well as two significant plate errors: position 27 displays the rare dot in front of the eagle’s beak (only four such errors per sheet of 50), while position 26 shows the extremely rare combination of the dot in front of the beak and the horizontal stripe pointing to the left (an error that occurs only once per sheet). According to Enrique Sánchez, based on recent transactions, values for "paper 5" stamps are approximately $300-500 for the 37.5 mm variety, $1,200 for the position 27 error, and $1,600 for position 26 with the dual error. 2025 MEPSI certificate.
