30047 S.G. 4 image1840 2d Deep Full Blue, Plate 2 (TF–TI) Horizontal Strip of Four on Entire Letter to Danzig — Exceptionally Rare Usage An extraordinary cover, this horizontal strip of four from Plate 2 (TF–TI) is affixed to an entire letter in written German, sent from Belfast 17 May 1843 to Danzig via private ship through Hamburg. Each stamp is cancelled with black Maltese Crosses and additionally tied by a Hamburg 22 May transit datestamp. The reverse bears Dublin and London datestamps, with a black “25/5” arrival marking and an accountancy notation “18 3/4” in violet, reflecting the outgoing Ship Letter rate of eight pence fully prepaid. The strip has good margins (just touched at the left of TF) and a tiny nick on TE at the top, yet remains in fine condition. This is the only recorded 1840 issue cover to Danzig, a rarity for foreign usages of early British stamps, cited in Theo Brauer’s “Not Intended for this Purpose”. A truly remarkable cover, combining scarcity, historical significance, and aesthetic appeal, is essential for an advanced classic British collector. (Image 1) (Image 2)

30048 ,, S.G. 8 image1841 1d Red-Brown, Plate 23 (FJ–HL). An irregular marginal block of eight (FJ–HL), mint with almost full original gum, four stamps unmounted. Good to large margins all round. A vertical fold in the margin between the left pair and the block of six. The marginal inscription reads: “1d per label. 1s/- per row of 12. £1… per sheet”. The multiple clearly shows the characteristic north-east breaks and weak lower left framelines associated with this plate. An exceptional and highly desirable multiple from this very difficult plate, of outstanding quality and importance. (Image 1) (Image 2)
