Gwalior – 1885–1946 Comprehensive Postal Stationery Exhibit (Five Frames, 80 Pages). An outstanding and comprehensive exhibition collection of Gwalior postal stationery, mounted on five frames (80 pages), presenting an in-depth study of the issues
from Queen Victoria through King George VI. The exhibit showcases a wide range of printings and overprint types, including a detailed treatment of Gwalior overprints, as well as uprated usages to registered post. Particular emphasis is placed on the
evolution of the “Sun and Snake” design across successive printings. The collection provides a thorough study of postal cards, stationery envelopes, and registered letters, with numerous illustrative examples demonstrating rates, usages, and postal
developments over the period. A rarely encountered and well-developed exhibit, offering both breadth and depth, and representing a foundational collection for this field. Condition generally fine to very fine. (Image 1)
