1840 1d black pl.1a GI-GJ horizontal pair, with large balanced margins, affixed to a piece of laid paper, GI tied by a superb clear strike of the red Maltese Cross and GJ tied by a very fine clear strike of the black London "T/MY -
13/1840" circular date stamp, the piece inscribed "Obliterating stamp" and "dated stamp in ink" denoting the respective cancellations; The finest of all the known examples of this cancellation trial, including that of R.M. Phillips in the National
Postal Museum. A spectacular Great Britain rarity, of major importance and worthy of the greatest exhibit.

1840 (Dec 16) 1d Mulready envelope, Forme 2 stereo A153, sent from Vera Cruz, Mexico, to Liverpool via New York cancelled by a red oval handstamp of Gilpins Exchange - Reading Room and Foreign Letter Office - New York with a handstruck
"8" (Robertson M65) alongside indicating an 8d charge as an incoming Ship Letter. Backstamped with a Vera Cruz dispatch cds for 16th December, a F.Karck of New York forwarding agents cachet and a "Liverpool / Ship Letter" handstamp (Robertson type
S14).
This famous Mulready remains the sole recorded example posted to the UK from outside Europe. An important and extremely attractive exhibition piece.

1842 (Jun 18) Mulready 2d lettersheet, stereo a91, sent to London bearing 1841 1d red-brown in block of 6 tied black MC cancels, with margins touched in places, backstamped ‘’Stone 18 6 42’’ and arrival cds. The adhesives are crossed by
horizontal and vertical filing folds, there is a little soiling and some peripheral faults but this is an outstanding and extremely rare Mulready usage (a single 1841 1d red on 2d Mulready cats £32'500).
