61349 S.G. 18c image1865 (Nov) partial cover to Graaff-Reinett with the 1d postage paid by De La Rue 1d brownish red, tied by triangular obliterator, arrival oval ds below, backflap missing, a rare example of the reduced 1d town rate (with a DLR triangle) which was extended to suburbs from February 1, 1864. This was the local rate to suburb areas and likely that this cover was sent from either Adendorp or Croonvale as those were the two local post offices in that area which would apply for the “reduced town rate”. This rate was started towards the end of the triangle issues in 1864 when the first rectangular Hope issues started. The cover is dated NOV 1865 during which time the rectangular issues were available and were in use and also shows a late use (possibly the last) of De La Rue issues triangular.(Image 1) (Image 2) (Image 3)
