Mepsi), 13c (21 unused and 2 used) and 25c (37 unused and 4 used). The used stamps are very scarce, and the 13c cancelled in Chalco is probably unique. These stamps without the consignment number but with the gothic Mexico overprint were issued in exchange for Eagle stamps at the beginning of the issue. 5,108 stamps of the 13c value were issued and 7,227 of the 25c. Large multiples are uncommon. NF $ 1,280 as singles.(Image 1) (Image 2) (Image 3)

10545 Scott 27, 29 imageMexico 13c blue (consignment # 95-1866) and 25c orange (consignment # 109 error for 107) lithographed, both with large even margins, on cover to Zacatecas, dated October 28, 1866, tied by light strikes of the "FRANCO / MEXICO" cds, very fine. Note: Invoice 109 had 10'000 engraved 25c consigned to Gudalajara. The 13c on this cover shows advanced plate wear in the oval frame and was the reason for the printing change.(Image 1) (Image 2) (Image 3) (Image 4)

A very scarce cover as although 7'227 of the 25c were issued, very few were actually used and therefore very few covers survived. 10555 Scott 29, 30 imageONE OF THE HIGHEST "MAXIMILIAN" FRANKINGS ON COVER Mexico 50c green lithographed strip of three, good to large margins, and 25c orange, fine to good margins (both consignment #95-1866) on cover to Guanajuato dated October 14, 1866, tied by "FRANCO / MEXICO" cds, vertical filing fold affecting 25c and reinforced behind, paying the very large $1.75 pesos rate, which is among the largest non-registered rates in the issue (in this issue any rate beyond 50c is rare and commands a large premium). A true rarity and a very handsome two-colour franking, especially with such a fine multiple of the 50c, and probably the highest franking recorded on an unregistered cover. Note: The last high rate Maximilian cover sold in auction in 2022 (from the same archive) for $23,000 plus commission. Provenance: Laegerlof and Wise.(Image 1) (Image 2)
