Engraved Maximilian unadopted essays by J. Delpierre from Belgium, with label in French (POSTES) and blank denomination, four singles on thick paper or thin card with large margins and in different colors. It is likely that
these designs in French were also tendered to Maximilian's brother-in-law Leopold II of Belgium: J. Delpierre was to be awarded the 1866 issue. Additionally a seldom seen lithographed and perforated essay with "IMPERIO MEX./POSTAS" legend, on
ungummed wove paper (thin spot).(Image 1)

Apam group of six stamps. Three lithographed and three engraved cancelled stamps, the lithographed being from the consignment 20-1866: 7c deep gray (remainder cancel but only 140 sent), 13c blue (sub 9) used in Mexico and 25c orange (sub 12 used in
Chignahuapam). The engraved stamps have remainder cancels and mostly ample to very large margins, except the 7c which is slightly cut into at base. NF $205 but the subs command an extra premium.(Image 1)

Apam 13c blue lithographed (consignment #78-1866 sub 12), wide balanced margins all around, on cover to Mexico City with a faint cancel, probably from Teotihuacán (Schatzkès #40), with March 16, 1867 arrival on reverse. Faint
crease not detracting. Postally used subs on cover are very rare from this district, and this is probably unique.(Image 1)
