48   image1862 REPRINTS - 1r BLUE WITH 4 GOOD TO WIDE MARGINS & 2r DARK BROWN (JULY 1862); 1r blue reprint (4m), possibly rebacked on vertical laid paper having some light stain marks seemingly concealed and small corner fault. Whichever 1862 reprint it is, it is one of only a small number produced. BPA Cert. (2020) stating that it is on "white laid paper". 56   imageRARE "5" NUMERAL ON COVER EX SPAIN TO ARICA VIA CHILE ON THE SS SANTIAGO MAIDEN VOYAGE; 20 Sept. 1851 EL (thin paper; minor flap faults) from "Cadiz" to Arica without Spanish markings but with with a (presumably Valparaiso) Forwarding Agents's ms endorsement on the flap in red: "Espere recibode sui comunicacion Stra[?]...p.p. de Ses., Santos Diez". It was then taken on 2 Dec. by the SS Santiago from Valparaiso (on her Maiden Voyage) with a very fine rare "5" barred numeral (possibly struck on the SS Santiago) to Arica with a mainly fine blue "ARICA" & "VAPOR" on the front. The only Numeral cover recorded from Spain, and one of only 8 recorded with the "5" numeral. 58   imageVERY RARE "10" NUMERAL ON COVER EX SAN FRANCISCO TO CHILE BY THE 'SANTIAGO' WITH PANAMA F.A.C.; 30 Aug. 1849 E (thin paper; small hole in address side well clear of postal marks) from "San Francisco" to Valparaiso with a very fine large SF cds (1 Sept.) nicely placed on the front beside a red manuscript "40" (prepaid in cash all the way) also having a very fine very rare "10" barred numeral nicely placed at top left. There is also a mostly fine oval-framed "FORWARDED BY/ ZACHRISSON NELSON & Co./PANAMA" FAC (only recorded by Rowe for 1848-51) slightly across the join on the reverse. Only one other cover with this "10" Numeral has been recorded, and this is the only recorded numeral cover recorded from the U.S. Carried by the PSNC 'Nueva Granada' from Panama to Valparaiso. 59   imageRARE BOXED "PSNC/COBIJA" MARK ON SPECTACULAR UNPAID COVER EX SUCRE TO HOLLAND VIA PANAMA & G.B.; 20 Mar. 1859 EL (reinforced corners inside) from "Sucre" (Bolivia) to Amsterdam "Pr. Mail Ingles via Cobija y Panama" with 5 different marks on the front: "SUCRE", boxed "ESTERO/FRANCA" (of Sucre?), blue-green "LAMAR [3½]" (old name for Cobija), part boxed "PSNC/COBIJA", and v. fine "PANAMA/TRANSIT" ds (9 May); charged "4/6" (British rate) and then Dutch "310". Carried by the PSNC SS Cloda from Cobija to Panama. On the reverse are red London (1 June) & Amsterdam (3 June) cds's and a Dutch delivery postman's "14" in circle. Remarkable routing and destination at this date, and a rare example of the Cobija PSNC's office mark struck in transit. Exhibition Quality. Brian Moorhouse Cert. (2016).
