Base B (on board the writer's ship SS 'Fitzroy') from the Fitzroy's retained Captain David Roberts to his MD of the "Falkland Is. Co." in Surrey with S. Shetlands 1d tied by a very fine purple "South Shetlands" cds and having a fine 2-ring P. Stanley
backstamp (6 Mar.) but also having a white Falklands "Opened by Censor." censor label at foot. Roberts was the FI Co's Colonial Manager by this time and had great experience of captaining the 'Fitzroy', so he assisted Captain Pitt on this

Dec. 1944 env. registered from Deception Island to Dar es Salaam with South Shetlands ½d(2)+4d tied by fine purple "South Shetlands" cds's but also having a blue "R" label with "NEW ISLAND" deleted in blue crayon but "Falkland Islands" left clear
(presumably used in Port Stanley due to losses in the P.O. fire in April 1944; faults). It was censored twice; there is a London "3954/P.C.90" label at left and a fair purple octagon-framed "R/1" censor mark (Durban?) on the front; backstamps include
