the reverse. The rate was made up of 3d to Chile or Uruguay plus the Airmail to NY & then Surface Mail to GB 2s-3d rate. An exceptional genuine franking from Port Lockroy in Graham Land; believed to be the only such 2s-6d rate Airmail cover recorded

(overall creasing) with red London 1d Meter Frank from the Bank of Montreal in London ref. "a/c Capt. A. Taylor" the Operation's Canadian Surveyor, Captain Andrew Taylor, and addressed to HQ of "1st Cdn. Army, Canadian Army, ENGLAND" but endorsed in
pencil "To D.D. Ivy For information" and so presumably sent to the Falklands by Military means and most remarkably having a very fine purple "Graham Land" arrival cds of 18 April 1944. Rare and most unusual ingoing mail carried on HMS 'William

fine large purple oval "OFICINA DICK/COMISIONES/Y/REPRESENTACIONES/PUNTA ARENAS" FAC on the reverse. Clearly sent under cover or by private means by Marr to Chile and posted from there. Routed via New York etc. and having the London white "405"

envelope had been used before in (within?) London as an OHMS cover with a 16 Aug. 1944 Official Paid m/c mark and a re-use label tied by Canadian London High Commissioner cachet. [Possibly originally reused as a paste-up on a larger 'proving'
