1703   imageIN ALL 4 RATES ON LOCAL POST: Trio inc. 14 Dec. 1796 EL (top flap torn by wax seal & repaired) from the Strand to Old Brompton (country area) charged ms "2" cancelled in ink, redirected to Berkeley Square (town area) and incurring a further 2d charge as indicated by ms "In all 4" with the postal clerk's initials; 26 Feb. 1828 EL to Covent Garden ex Clerkenwell Green charged 2d with "2" hs cancelled by dumb cancel, redirected to Holborn incurring a further 2d charge and stamped with v.good "4" (L622) & "In All" (large-type L638) hs's; and 13 Oct. 1828 EL to Richmond ex Lombard Street charged 3d with "3" hs, address & hs heavily crossed out and redirected to Park Lane incurring a further 3d charge indicated by v.fine "In All" (less common, smaller type L639) and "6" (L635) hs's, finally redirected to Hastings and incurring a further 8d charge indicated by ms "8" on reverse. 1706   image1 CHARGEMARK USED FOR ERASURE: 30 Dec. 1809 E to New Road ex Lombard Street, originally & incorrectly stamped with a "2" chargemark (L601 but with pointed toe), rectified by obliterating the "2" with a crossed pair of "1" hs's (L570, recorded only in 1809) & the correct "3" hs (L618) applied.
