1557   imageLONDON H.S. "Oz at... [5s/4d + 6s/8d] per Oz" MARKS + UNIQUE(?) ENV. WITH SPECIAL 1/- EMBOSSED STAMP FRAME; 1817/27 pair of Es (first with reinforced horiz. fold) to London at exceptionally high rates ["12/-" & "8/4"] ex "AMSTERDAM" (red h.s.) with very fine rare "[2¼]Oz. at 5s/4d per Oz [12/-]" or ex "HAMBURG" ds with fine "[1¼]Oz. at "6s/8d per Oz [8/4]". Plus 13 June 1851 env. ex "GUERNSEY" (blue cds on flap) to "Cape Town" with a neatly 'cut-to-shape' Embossed 1s-0d Green (cancelled by fair "324" Guernsey Numeral) neatly placed inside the specially embossed octagonal frame beneath the stamp (just showing around the right-hand edges of the stamp). This 1851 envelope was clearly made specially for letters requiring the 10d or 1s-0d Embossed stamps! This appears to be the only recorded example of a special Embossed-frame envelope [ex John Dickson, 2020.]. Good trio.
