900   image1813-1911 CHIEFLY USED COLLECTION PRESENTED PARTLY AS A HISTORY OF THE POSTAL SERVICE IN JAMAICA in a ring 22 album written up with the support of many interesting covers & cards and a little ephemera. Starts with entires, wrappers & covers in mixed condition incs. incoming mail from the UK (5), 1838 double letter from Spanish town, 1841 Kingston Ship Letter addressed to Lord Bishop of Jamaica inc. further modern documentation from the vendor, 1861 cover bearing GB 6d lilac with 1d hs in red showing that it was due to the Jamaican P.O. Then a very good collection of GB stamps used in Jamaica with various 'A01' obliterator cancels 1d red Plate 14 (5, inc. two pairs one stamp with faults), 4d rose (13 inc. 4 pairs with one stamp faulty), 4d rose carmine, 6d lilac (8) & 1/- green (2, one on piece but toned) with several of these on part entires, also further GB stamps with smaller town obliterator cancels (6) inc. 1d red with 'A39' Falmouth cancel with the whole group having a catalogue value in excess of £7000. Then follows 1860-70 issues with 1d blue in vert. strip of 6 plus a bisected 1d example on part entire with RPSL cert. (1936, name cut out), 4d imperf. 'Specimen' (faults) &1/- with inv. wmk; 1870-83 inc. 2/- & 5/- inv. wmk m, 1883-97 set (ex 1d blue), 1d blue Postal cards all used inc. 1891 with boxed 'PAQEBOT' cancel; 1/- Telegraph stamp (5); 1904 set both m & u plus 'SPECIMEN' set, 1905-11 set, QV types most vals. to 2/- plus both 2/- cols m & finally the 1911 2d grey in marg. Block of 15 (3 x 5) m plus singles m & u and lots more. Very useful collection for the specialist with mixed condition in places but much for further study with particular pmk interest.
