368   image1867 UNRECORDED WRECK COVER: 14 June 1867 env. from Montreal "via Canadian Packet" to Kelso bearing Chalon perf. 12 12½c green with a fine "MONTREAL/C.E." duplex and "GLASGOW PACKET/PAID" ds alongside. Fine. Note: The allan Line "S.S. North America" which carried this cover ran aground on Antosti Island in the St Lawrence. It was refloated and towed to Quebec for repairs. The ship "St George" collected the mails and took them to Newfoundland where they were transferred to the Allan Line "Austrian" which brought them to the UK. (Image)

369   image1867 ENVELOPE TO SCOTLAND: 30 May 1867 env. from Kingston C.W. to Linlithgow bearing a single perf. 12 1859 Chalon 12½c green tied by a clear circle of horizontal bars cancellation. With a good "GLASGOW PACKET/PAID" ds nearby. With ms "Per N.S./1st June" at lower left. Note: despite being marked "per N.S. 1st june" this cover was carried on the Allan Line "Peruvian" which sailed from Quebec on 1st June 1867. It arrived at Liverpool on 14th June 1867 having previously made a brief mail drop in Londonderry after 13 days. (Image)
