 1898 PRESIDENT SIMON SAM ISSUE - PERFINS: Apr. 1899 cover (with damage) from Port au Prince to Italy franked by a perfined pair of
1c blue. The perfin is believed to be that of Alfred Lefebvre (AL), a Port au Prince agent, and is one of only two covers known from this period which bear perfined stamps. Also included is a perfined single. Exceptionally scarce items. (1 stamp and

 1898 PRESIDENT SIMON SAM ISSUE: Collection of mint & used stamps, sheets & postal history presented on display pages. Includes two
mint sets of the portrait to 1 and the 8 'Coat of Arms' types and a stock page of 36 mint & used portrait types. Also, 2 half sheets each of 50 stamps of the 3c green & 7c grey cto at Port au Prince. Range of cars & covers inc. Oct. 1899 PPC of
Jeremie from Port au Prince to Italy via New York with franking of 2 x 1c blue, 3 used P. Stat. cards of 1c, 2c & 3c, the 1c being uprated with 2c orange for mailing to Germany, the 2c card (half of a letter card) is used locally (scarce thus).
Others inc. cover from Haiti to Switzerland via New York, two PPCs to Germany, a 2c rate local cover and 1c P. Stat. card used locally. Also of note is a 1901 commercial cover from Jacmel to Paris, stampless due to a postage stamp shortage at Jacmel

(used for 20c & 50c values) from M.E.Cote's proof book. Extensive study of the POSTE PAYE overprints and of the many forgeries of this issue; lot inc. a complete sheet of 50 of the 20c value optd. with type I opt. and 7c colour trial being complete
sheet of 50 in violet depicting Toussaint L'Ouverture (instead of J.J.Dessalines as in the issued stamp). Several examples of postal use inc. Feb. 1904 Regd. cover to Paris via New York noting a pair of 1c green used in combination with stamps from

 1915-20 AMERICAN OCCUPATION SURCHARGES: Comprehensive collection of surcharges used on various stamps & Postage Dues issued between
1904 & 1914. Many examples of errors & varieties throughout in singles & multiples. Most, if not all surchargings represented (surcharging took place on c.30 days between 1915-1920), inc. some scarce surcharges e.g, 20 Sep. 1918 1c on 1g (only 250
