institution of the Order 'Virtuti Militari', cancelled with a
special commemorative postmark, and the souvenir sheet for the

1926 **/*/bof/(*) image1855/1946: Collection predominately unused material, commencing
with a range of classic imperforate issues from 1855 onwards, with
a useful selection of King Pedro V types, showing a variety of
shades and cancellations. Thereafter a well-developed run through
the King Luís and King Carlos periods, with good continuity into
the Republic issues. Strength in the commemorative sets of the
early 20th century, including the 1894 Henry the Navigator series
(used to high values), and a comprehensive showing of 1920s–30s
issues with many complete or near-complete sets. Further includes a
strong range of Ceres definitives with multiple values and
printings, alongside better commemoratives and mid-period pictorial
sets. The later section continues to 1940s with good coverage and
generally fresh material. Condition somewhat variable in the
classics as to be expected (several signed by A. Diena), though
some fine to very fine examples; later issues largely fresh and
well preserved. The collection concludes with a selection of
miniature sheets (1941-45). A substantial and attractive holding
offering good scope for expansion or refinement. (Image 1) (Image 2) (Image 3) (Image 4) (Image 5) (Image 6) (Image 7) (Image 8) (Image 9) (Image 10) (Image 11) (Image 12) (Image 13) (Image 14) (Image 15) (Image 16) (Image 17) (Image 18) (Image 19) (Image 20) (Image 21) (Image 22) (Image 23)
