a single, margins touched into places and showing minor
imperfections, all tied by town datestamp "BERGEN 21-6 1856" with
adjacent framed "Aus Dänemark" and straight-line "FRANCO" to a
folded lettersheet mailed via "HAMBURG 25-6" to St. Petersburg. The
cover reinforced in places with tape and rather faulty. An
extremely rare 32 skillings franking to Russia, being one of only

letters (4), with early usage 1855 entire bearing 4 sk. blue tied
by eleven bar handstamp with 'Christiania' cds in blue at right
(Jan 16, 1855, third week of issue) - entire would benefit by
refolding; 4 sk. blue on 1855 cover from Drammen (March 27) to
Christiania, four margin 4 sk. on cover from Christianssand, and a

1861 cover image1858 (Dec 31): Fully prepaid Entire letter from Christiania to La
Rochelle bearing 1856/57 King Oscar 2 sk. orange-yellow and 8 sk.
brown-carmine in a horizontal strip of three (two blunted perfs at
left), overall fresh and fine adhesives, tied by clear CHRISTIANIA
cds in black, framed PD handstamp in red and French "NORVEGE -
QUIEVRAIN 5 JANV 59 AMB B" entry cds (Jan 20) in black alongside.
Reverse with transit cds of Sandøsund, French ambulants (Jan 6) and
indistinct arrival cds. Appealing franking to pay the 26 sk. rate
from Norway to France. Certs. E. Diena (1987), Moldenhauer (1988)
Facit 2a+5a / Norgeskatalogen (1995) = NOK 6'500. The lot inclues
four used adhesives of the first and second issue of Norway.

with "Som ubesörget" black on lilac rose paper, one used with pen

"CHRISTIANA 30 V 82" with straight-line "RETOUR" alongside and

1864 cover imageBouvet Island 1934: Cover to Transvaal, South Africa, bearing the
complete private Bouvet issue 5 ö. - 30 ö. including the very rare
7 öre (just 69 examples known used), each value with handstamp
overprint "BOUVET O Y A" in black, all tied by the large cds "CAPE
TOWN PAQUEBOT 28. FEB. 34". The franking with some minor
imperfections, the envelope with light toning and transportation
traces. An extremely rare Antarctic cover, one of only a few postal
survivors from the Milford expedition to the most remote island in
