Yvert albums. The holding is well advanced and, in general, in good
condition, with numerous better values throughout. Includes the
'Bordeaux 1923' and 'Le Havre 1929' exhibition issues, 'Caisse
d’Amortisation' sets, the '50 Fr. Banknote', and the 'Samothrace'
set. The post-war period appears complete, including precancels,
postage dues, and the Alsace and Lorraine occupation issues. A page
with a small group of varieties is present, as well as a stockbook
containing several blocks of four. A further stockbook and a number

1400 cover image1589/1789: Town of Martigues, delightful collection (20 items),
starting with an extremely scarce 1589 (September 10) entire, dated
inside "du Martigue" showing typical "8" couché in "15∞9",
addressed to the consuls of Marignane and Gignac (very early mail,
in Lenain office opened in the 17th century); two 1756 entires to
the bearer, endorsed "12 s(ols) au porteur" and "6 s(ols) au
porteur je dis six sols"; two postage paid on delivery entires
including 1763 cover to Aix, forwarded to Martigues. The collection
follows with the first straight-line postmark with 1770 (May 25)
cover to Pertuis, with adjacent manuscript "martigues", then
continues with a fine range of diverse postal rates in Sols,
manuscript crosses "à la grâce de Dieu" (at the grace of God), 1789
(June 2) entire to Eyguiere sent shortly before the French
revolution, also foreign destination with 1736 entire letter to
Alicante, Spain, and more. A charming assembly, neatly mounted and

Edinburgh Scotland, 1842 Mannheim to London, re-directed to Melton
Mowbray with 1 d. red imperf. added, the cover unfortunarely
heavily stained by scotch applied from the inner side, as well as
two 1865/69 covers bearing Baden adhesives making their journey via
Strabourg to France. Lot includes four covers from Bavaria with
1822 SPEIER to Avignon, two 1822/25 covers to Beaune from NÜRNBERG

crossing the border to France via Alsace & Lorraine sorted along
"Noël - Marques et Cachets d'Entrée en France en Provenance
d'Europe 1800-1881", showing the large diversity of entry markings
for mail coming from the different German States, Belgium, and
Switzerland, struck primarily at Strasbourg & Forbach, also smaller
offices such as Thionville and Sierck included, border region
handsstamps such as "R. FRONT." towards Belgium and "DEP. LIMIT."
towards Baden, border rate covers such as the 20 c. rate from
France to Belgium; primarily bureaux d'entrée of the Departments
Moselle and Bas-Rhin, but also three covers entering France via the
Department Haut-Rhin incl. 1841 cover from Vienna to London, paid
until the Austrian border, 1830 cover from Naples to Porto via
Huningue, and 1846 cover from Udine via St. Louis to London. The
lot includes primarily prephilatelic and stampless porto covers but
also few covers with adhesives such as an 1860 cover from Bad
Gastein to Sorèze Tarn. A well described usefull assembly,
