DE BAV.E" (Lenain SA3 & SA5), charged upon arrival. A fine group from the 1742 year when Prague was occupied by French troops. France, Prussia, and Bavaria saw it as an opportunity to challenge Habsburg power. Prussia occupied the Austrian province of Silesia in 1740 and Prussian, Saxonian, Bavarian and French troops conquered Pilsen in October 1741 and even Prague in November 1741. However, in 1742 the fortune of war changed and Austrian victories in Austria, Bavaria, and Bohemia led finally to the siege of French and Bavarian troops in Prague. (Image 1) (Image 2)
