The letter-card is written in German, struck with Singapore transit cds and Melbourne arrival datestamps on the reverse. Very fine and a great rarity. Route - Private steamship: Departed Saigon 22 Oct 1888 per steamer to Singapore (26 Oct). P&O Line: Departed Singapore (16 Nov) per “Victoria” to Adelaide (25 Nov); by rail to Melbourne, arriving 26 Nov 1888 (35 days).
