1842 cover imageThe Czech Army in Ukraine 1914/18 and the Occupation of Carpatho-Ukraine in 1918/20: Collection of 500 C.S.R. Fieldpost postal cards with a lot of different topographic, propaganda and ethnographic motifs, part of a well written up collection incl. CSR inter-war issues and Czech propaganda postcards, vignettes issued during the war primarily in Ukraine (30), and primarily a thorough study of Czechoslovak Fieldpost postcards with 'POLNI POSTA' datestamps sent during and after the occupation of Carpatho Ukraine between December 1918 and spring 1920, the majority of the material sorted and described along the F.P.O.'s in use numbered #12 (12 cards), #14 (106 cards, few covers), #22 (30 postcards), #35 (6 postcards), #38 (6 postcards), #44 (31 postcards), #46 (265 photographs), and #75 (56 postcrards) in use in the area under study, most with additional handstamps of the military units related to these F.P.O.'s; also five covers / cards documenting civil postal rates in use. The lot includes also a group of 1938/39 material from Czechoslovakia, Poland & Hungary related the occupation of Carpatho-Ukraine by Hungarian troops and to the victory of the German troops at the beginning of WWII including civil mail but also 1938 CSR Fieldpost from Carpatho-Ukraine, and a group of 18 covers/cards from WWII with frankings of German occupation Ukraine from Genichesk and Western Ukraine from Drohobycz with Generalgouvernement frankings. 2338 cover imageWestbound Mail - Slovakia 1940/41: Group of four envelopes with three from Bratislava to Buenos Aires (1940 June 4th, 1940) and two envelopes to Quito Ecuador (1941, March 21st, July 21st) with one bearing Slovakian censor tape 'CENZUROVANE' as well as 1941 (June 7th) censored envelope from Michalovce to Detroit with manuscript 'Via Côte du Pacific' in red crayon. All flown from Rome to Rio de Janeiro by LATI, then either down to Buenos Aires and up the West Coast of from Rio de Janeiro via Condor. A fine and rare selection on exhibition pages. 3429 cover imageIncoming Mail via Pacific Ocean 1876 (July 13): Mourning cover from Christiansted, Danish West Indies to Sydney, New South Wales bearing 1873 Great Britain 3 d. rose, pl. 18 and 1864 1 d. red boldly cancelled by the St. Thomas “C51” duplex and prepaying 4 d. plus 1 s. in cash for a 1⁄2 ounce ship letter to New South Wales. Manuscript “1/-” in black representing the prepayment in cash and with Sydney arrival on reverse. The rear flap torn on opening just affecting the top of the cover but not affecting the adhesive. A charming and delightful cover of great rarity. The only cover recorded from the Danish West Indies to the Australian Colonies. Route: Departed Christiansted 13 July 1876 by steamer to St. Thomas (14 July). Royal Mail Steam Packet Co: Departed St. Thomas (16 July) per “Para” via Jacmel (19 July), Kingston (20 July) to Colon (24 July); overland to Panama (9 Aug); by steamer to San Francisco. Pacific Mail Steamship Co: Departed San Francisco (13 Sept) per “City of NewYork” to Fiji (4 Oct); “Australia” (4 Oct) via Auckland (8 Oct) to Sydney, arriving 11 Oct 1876 (90 days). 2023 cover imageLZ 13 Hansa - Kopenhagenfahrt 1912 (19. Sept): Luftschiffpostkarte 'Landung' mit Bordstempel Type I, geschrieben ab Bord über Flensburg und nach der Landung in Kopenhagen der dänischen Post übergeben, frankiert mit 5 Öre im waagr. Paar (Zähnung etwas getönt) entw. "Kopenhagen 20.9.12 5-7E" nach Fuhlsbüttel. Post mit Dänischer Frankatur wurde normalerweise nach Hamburg Fuhlsbüttel geleitet, wo sie vom LZ 13 bis Kopenhagen mitgenommen wurde. Diese Karte (leicht beschmutzt) wurde jedoch an Bord geschrieben und erst in Kopenhagen der dänischen Post übergeben. In dieser Variante noch nicht in Michel gelistet. (Image 1) (Image 2)
