Large "Santiago / Chile" despatch cds at right (Sept 16) in red, three line PANAMA / TRANSIT in black and struck on arrival with "34" (cents) handstamp in black with blue crayon "24" for British share. 203 cover image1880 (July 28): Partially paid envelope from Valparaiso, Chile to Genova, redirected to Casella nearby Busalla, bearing left marginal pair of 1877 Colón 5 c. dull lake rouletted, tied by indistinct VALPARAISO cds and paying the internal double rate postage for Chile, triangular-framed T and manuscript "13" decimi noted alongside. In Genova Segnatasse 1870/74 1 lire blue & brown and 30 c. ochre & carmine were placed on front and tied by an indistinct datestamp, later a pair 50 c. and 30 c. ochre & carmine dues were added and tied by BUSSALA cds's (Sept 8, 1880). Reverse with further datestamps from GENOVA and BUSALLA. Cover with wrinkles and some edge wear, fold through the lower pair, nevertheless an interesting part paid cover. (Image 1) (Image 2)

"Correo / Antofagasta" frank marking in blue; reverse with COPIAPO arrival cds (January 2) in black. Some contemporary docketing explaining contents "Daniel Barrios, Cartas de Quesada i un Contrato". 213 cover 1857/65: Santiago P.O. printings, 5 c. dull reddish / yellowish brown 'canela' shades, the collection on beautifully written up leaves with used single examples (16), pairs (3) and strips of three (2, one is on cover), all in the scarcest shade of the issue and in superb quality with the 1860 entire letter used from Valparaiso to Coquimbo bearing strip of three with just shaved margin at top cancelled in black. A splendid group and extremely hard to replicate nowadays Gi 18 = £ 700+/Scott = $ 700+.

214 image1857/65: Santiago P.O. printings, 10 c. blue (shades), the album pages with used single examples (30), horizontal pairs (4) and a horizontal strip of three, showing the dramatic colour shade differences and both the original sharp impressions and the later poor quality impressions, with one single example cancelled by blue target handstamp, the balance in black (but for a late impression with part CURICO handstamp); one pair showing an almost suffused colour and another very similar to the original Perkins Bacon shade of 1853.
