908 imageTati Concessions 1888: Bechuanaland 1 d. on 1 d. lilac & black, wmk. Orb, perf. 14, the famous used example cancelled by "TATI / BECHUANALAND" circular datestamp (21 Aug 1888) in black. As the Tati District was claimed by both Khama and Lobenguela, the word "Bechuanaland" was removed immediately after this mail. Provenance: Collection H.R. Holmes, Harmers, 29 Oct 1981, lot 1396; Christie's, London, 16 July 1992, lot 190. (Image 1) (Image 2)
