3272 cover imageIncoming Mail Overland via Brindisi & Suez 1892 (April 8): Monaco 10 c. postal stationery card, small piece of corner missing at top right, used from Monte Carlo, Monaco to Sydney, New South Wales and cancelled by a very fine Monte-Carlo datestamp, prepaying 10 centimes for a postal card to New South Wales with Sydney arrival on the reverse. Rare, being the only cover recorded by the vendor from Monaco to the Australian Colonies before Federation. Route: Departed Monte Carlo 8 April 1892 by steamer to Alexandria. P&O Line: Departed Alexandria (15 April) via the Suez Canal, Aden (19 April) to Adelaide (11 May); by rail to Sydney, arriving 13 May 1892 (35 days). (Image 1) (Image 2)
