1859 (June 15): 1 d. blue, a used corner marginal example in a deep shade from top right hand corner of the sheet, huge margins on two sides, imperceptibly grazed at top left, used on 1859 entire letter to Stefano Ralli in
Trieste cancelled by small "CORFU" circular datestamp (June 19) in blue with information strike at right - just four days after the standard catalogues (Michel and Stanley Gibbons) give as the issue date - however this is now believed by specialists
to have been perhaps as early as April 1859. The 1 d. local charge paid for the letter to be delivered to the Lloyd steamer. Reverse with Triest arrival (June 22) in red. A very rare and most attractive entire. Cert. Simmermacher (2024)(Image 1)
