British Protectorate 1815-1864 1822 (Aug 11): Entire letter from Corfu to Worcester, endorsed at top "From Richard Murphy, Sergeant 36th Regt." and counter-signed at left "Soldier's Letter / E.Browne Major / 36th Regt. Comd.",
manuscript "P1" in red ink with curved "PAID / MALTA" transit in black below. Faint ISOLE IONIE at top right, interestingly, as many soldiers were illiterate, the letter itself is written by the Major on behalf of the Sergeant(Image 1)

British Protectorate (1815-1864) 1826: Prepaid entire letter from Cefalonia to Corfu, struck with rectangular framed "FRANCA" in red on despatch. The entire returned from Corfu back to Cefalonia and struck with oval framed

red manuscript, fine hooded CORFU despatch on reverse in black (Jan 15). Disinfected at Otranto by toasting (tong marks evident) and slitting the entire with framed OTRANTO transit in black. In Venice scarce "Jonia" handstamp in red applied with
framed "AT" and thence via London to Dublin - an uncommon destination. A fine and unusual entire with chatty letter in English(Image 1)

British Protectorate 1815-1864 1828 (Oct 1): Entire letter from Ithaca to Dublin, Ireland with Military content endorsed "Single Letter" and "Via Otranto", disinfected by slitting and toasting probably at Otranto; struck with
circular "ISOLA D'ITACA" in black (with manuscript rate "1/3½" - sterling, with breakdown of same in manuscript on reverse) with oval framed "FRANCA" alongside and hooded "CORFU" datestamp (Oct 6) in black. Framed "Otranto" and "I.T." in red and
scarce "Jonia" also in red on obverse, thence via Naples (Oct 21), London (Nov 6) and Dublin arrival (Nov 8) in red where charged "3s." due on receipt. A most unusual routing and destination that opens well for Exhibit display(Image 1)
