'C', Code A. To the reverse a London transit and an arrival towndated (MY 15). Cover is stained and soiled and there is a small perf. bend to the adhesive. However, a very rare survivor; the only known example from this Trial. Note: The second Trial
of the duplex Postmark Type II officially commenced 13-14 May 1858. Hill's so-called 'Parallel-Motion Stamping Machine' was a modified, more robustly constructed Machine 'C' type, having a parallel-motion linkage and a double roller inking feature to

Pearson Hill Parallel Motion Multiple Unit Trials London: A study mounted upon four pages comprising eight covers illustrating the postmarks which came from the First, Second and Third Multiple Unit Trials. Featured are the
London duplex cancels; '2', '4', '5', '6', '87', '88' and '89'. With the exception of the '89' all are single 1 d. frankings, the latter having a 2 d. blue. Noted; a very attractive mourning envelope franked with an 1858 1 d. red sent from London to

Rideout Experimental Machine number '1' duplex cancel, Type II, in black, endorsed 'India via Marseille', addressed to 'Captain Griffiths, Her Majesty's 19th Regiment'. On arrival has been redirected with multiple transit and arrival marks to reverse
with a final destination dated 13 April 1859. The 6 d. has corner clipped lower left and 2 d. dulled perfs top right. Heavily stained and soiled with tear to left side. However, a characterful cover and a scarce tri-colour 9 d. rate with the
