Noted a page with 29 examples of 1860/78 issues overprinted 'CANCELLED' in black, some inverted (Gi 46-82) and including a gutter horizontal pair of the Half Penny surcharge and a wmk. inverted on the 1877 1 s. on 5 s. bright mauve (Gi 82w). Complete run of values from 1900/1907 (Gi 138/175) including several blocks of four and a sheet of 50 1900 3 c. green & carmine on yellow (Gi 140). Noted; 1818 entire letter to Caresse nearby Orthez, France with oval "PORT LOUIS / POST PAID" handstamp, 1853 two Shipmail entire letters written in Madras and directed to Port Louis Mauritius, both endorsed "Lady Jocelyn", and struck by "MADRAS / G.P.O. / 1853 JU 21" and oval "PACKET LETTER MAURITIUS" and the "INDIA PAID" handstamp in red. Among the three registered is an example dated 1904 sent from Rose Hill to Paris, endorsed "Via Colombo", bearing 1895 Arms 3 c. dull purple, a single and a block of four together with 1902 '12 CENTS' on 36 c. orange & ultramarine and a 1905 registered stationery envelope KEVII 15 c. blue from Curepipe to Leiden, Netherlands, bearing in addition Arms 12 c. grey-black & carmine and 1907 36 c. brown stationery envelope sent registered from Beau Bassin to Paris uprated with with 1900/05 6 c. purple & carmine on red. 1402 cover image1828/39: Correspondence comprising 13 letters/documents sent from Port Louis to Nantes, France, addressed to Bourcard & Luther, pre-philatelic manuscript charge marks, with dispatch, transit and arrival postmarks. Contents pertaining to the state of business on the island, mainly the export and sale of mules. Mentions a cargo to Loire which arrived in the most pitiful state and which was not composed of choice beasts but still returned $230 each. Among the 60 beasts there were about 15 dead. Also mention of hurricanes, the price of sugar, the arrival of ships and the Colony is still flourishing. 1404 cover image1843/1880: Group of four entires sent from Mauritius, two to Britain and two to France, with various markings, including 'SHIP-LETTER' (one in red and one in black) and two with the Mauritius Post Office double circle, one cover is sent from Government House, Port Louis to the Foreign Office, Downing Street, London. Two have endorsements for ships, per 'Isabella Blyth' and 'Lily'. Additionally, three covers which have had the adhesives removed but have interesting markings, such as maritime or charge marks, one of which originates from Réunion.
