Comprising 3 c. on 16 c. yellow affixed red text on white card with variety 'Short T' in 'CENTS'; 3 c. on 16 c. yellow applied to blue text on white card; 5 c. on 18 c. lilac tp black text on blue card, 5 c. on 18 c. lilac attached red text on white card, variety 'Short T' in 'CENTS' and 5 c. on 18 c. lilac on blue text on white card. 1262 cover image1880/1964: Accumulation of postal stationery comprising over 200 items. Includes postal stationery cards, registered envelopes, wrappers and aerogrammes. 1263 cover image1898/1965: Accumulation of approximately 75 letters and postcards from Hong Kong, including an early card to YOKOHAMA dated May 1898. There are many different postmarks, some letters have interesting route markings incl. "By air to London only". 1264 cover image1914/28: Group of four 10 c. violet registered stationery envelopes, size K, comprising two unused (H&G 7d & 10c) and two used (H&G 8d and 10c), the latter which originate from Hong Kong and sent to England and West Africa respectively. The H&G 10c has a stamp missing and the H&G 8d has some tone spots. Both have a degree of soiling. The unused H&G 7d has tone spots, otherwise both are fresh and clean. 1265 cover imagePre-Philately 1810 (Nov.): Entire letter from Madras, India to Stonehaven, Scotland, from Surgeon Robert Bardenach, who writes that after the disturbance at Madras a military expedition of 5'000 men was due to sail to Mauritius to take the island from the French and to occupy it for Britain. Entire is struck with 'SHIP LETTER / ? / LONDON' in black and alongside an indistinct red circular which is dated November 1810. Rated with manuscript marks of '8' (ship fee) and '2/8' to pay. Letter arrived in Scotland 28 December 1810. Some damage to entire and small part missing. Apparent soiling and staining, but in the main intact. A very early British letter regarding the invasion of Mauritius, which occurred 3 December 1810, of considerable historical importance(Image 1) (Image 2)
