92 bof image1844/46: Inclinados: group of four used blocks of four, comprising three 10 r. and one 30 r., all but one, which is touching small part of top, are good to large four margins, in particular noted, a very fine example of the 10 r. in an attractive grey-black shade printed upon thin greyish paper from right of sheet with vertical marginal rule, cancelled in red, also a 10 r. cancelled by a very fine "SANTOS" datestamp in black (9 December 1846), the 30 r. being an intermediate impression, type II, from the bottom of the sheet showing horizontal marginal guide-line and tied to small piece by red datestamp, a scarce group. 101 bof image1929/1932: Air Post, group of nine examples, including Condor 50 r on 700 r orange with variety inverted surcharge unused, (only 150 printed) E.T.A. unmounted strip of four (2CL1, 2CL3-5) slightly toned although very fine appearance, also a block of four (2CL7) some perf. separation but clean and fresh, as well as a scarce block of four with "VARIG" surcharge in red 1000 r. on 1300 r. (3CL10) used with special handstamp dated 30 November 1930 and two examples of the regular airmail stamps 1931 2500 r on 3000 r. violet, comprising a corner bottom marginal block of four (C28) and a single with variety 'surcharge to front and reverse' (C28b), also two used examples of 1927 scarce 500 r. on 10 r. one with Kessler expert mark (C6A), a used 1000 r surcharge double (C8a, $300 for used) a useful and interesting lot, scarce Scott = $3570. 103 cover image1821 (Dec 22 and Dec 31): Entire letters (2) with the first entire to James Finnie in Lisbon endorsed "p. Piedade", the second entire being the duplicate letter (sent for safety) and mailed on 31 December, endorsed "p. Correio", each struck with fair only "Ro.DEJANRo" handstamps in brown (P-RJ-34) and each rated "80" reis due to pay in red manuscript. The earliest cover with docketing of receipt (9 March 1822) and the second received on 14 March 1822. A remarkable and unusual pair that open well for Exhibit display(Image 1)

107 cover image1883/1899: Group of seven covers, including uprated stationery postcard and letter card, noted 1886 50 r. red on green postal stationery letter card (H&G A10) to Gand, Belgium uprated with 1885 50 r. blue and 100 r. lilac sent via French paquebot 'Gironde'; an 1886 double rate internal franked with fifteen 10 r. orange including a block of sic (filing crease) and a 50 r. blue, rare cover; also a registered 1883 wrapper franked with two horizontal pairs of small Dom Pedro 100 r. lilac, type I, to New York, and a 1888 envelope from Paranagua to Palmeira franked to reverse with a marginal block of eight and pair of small Dom Pedro 10 r. orange, as well as a 50 r. blue postcard uprated with 10 r. orange and 20 r. slate green sent to Uruguay, also a illustrated postcard franked with Scott 113-115 and 136 sent to Italy redirected to Germany, and an 1889 envelope sent to London franked with five 20 r. olive-green and a 100 r. lilac redirected upon arrival, some faults, although condition is good to fine overall, a scarce selection. 5887 cover image1843 (Aug 1): 30 reis black, Intermediate Impression, two horizontal pairs, margins large on one and shaved on the other, used on reverse of 5 December 1844 entire letter from Rio de Janeiro to Victoria, tied by two strikes of CORREIO GERAL DA CORTE circular datestamps with inverted "3/21" - error for 8/12 - and upright "1844". Some minor creasing and small faults but a very rare franking for the single 120 reis Maritime rate. Illustrated in "Bull's Eyes on Covers" by Bernd Juchert on page 88 - just two other covers are recorded with the rate paid by four examples of the 30 reis. Cert. Juchert (2024). 6189 cover image1862 (October): Printed circular to Amsterdam, franked with 1850 60 r. black and 1854 30 r. blue horizontal pair, each with large to very large margins all around, prepaying the rate to the port in France, 7½ (cents) in manuscript denoting amount due from recipient, adhesives tied by black Pernambuco cds, the pair further tied by blue Brésil - Bordeaux transit, endorsed "via Bordeaux", backstamp of Pernambuco forwarding agents Krabbé Thom & Co, 1-½ c Amsterdam triangular foreign tax stamp, hinge remnants in places, cover repaired at right, clear of stamps, some holes in address due to the ink reacting with fragile thin paper, otherwise fine and scarce with tremendous visual appeal(Image 1) (Image 2) (Image 3)
