3514 image1840: 2 d. blue, plate 1, lettered HE-HF / IE-IF, a block of four in combination with 1 d. black, plate 6, lettered NE-NF, used on 1840 cover from Inverary to Edinburgh carried at under 5 ounce rate, tied by Maltese Crosses in red. Margins just touched to large, cover crease below the adhesives; however multiples of the black and blue on cover are extreme rarities, minor imperfections including ironed creasing through the pair, which was inaccurately replaced . A cover of magnificent visual appeal and an Exhibition highlight.The only 2d block of four used with 1d black on cover. The only other such combination with a 2d block of four is an undated large piece. Readdressed locally from Chudleigh to Bridgewater, initially prepaid "1" in red manuscript but deleted, with the addition of 1841 2 d. blue, plate 3, lettered FL, applied over London tombstone despatch (April 28) in red, tied by Maltese Cross in black with manuscript "p.pd." and Chudleigh double arc cds in black (April 29) at left. Cerificate BPA (2007).rnRemarks: The printed circular is from the Catholic Institute and refers to amendmentto the proposed Factories Bill as proposed by the Earl of Arundel and Surrey. The addressee Lord Clifford is a descendant of the Clifford of Chudleigh family, of Norman descent, who arrived in England during the Norman Conquest of 1066. The family seat is Ugbroke Park. near Chudleigh in Devon. Usual creases and reinforced due to refolding and resend clear of adhesives, a very rare "turned cover"  with two different plates of the 1 d. black cancelled in two different colours.
