Newport Pagnell endorsed "Stamped" tied by neat strike of the Maltese Cross in black. Reverse with London Lombard Street despatch (Feb 27). The cover without side flaps (although the position of the black wax seal on reverse suggests this could have

George Street, Edinburgh with October 31st, 1840 cover from Glasgow bearing the phenomenal franking of 1840 2 d. blue, plate 1, with three horizontal strips of three, lettered LA-LC, LD-LF and EJ-EL, margins just touched but mostly fine to large all
round with EJ-EL crossed by file fold, all cancelled by Maltese Crosses in red, the franking of 1 s. 6 d. paying the rate for a letter of nine ounces; reverse with Glasgow cds (Oct 31) and Edinburgh arrival of the following day both in red. Sold
