1856c. "Carte de Visite" real sepia photograph of Sir Rowland Hill (1795-1879), inscribed on
reverse by the photographer "Mayall / 224 Regent Street, London / 90 King's Road, Brighton". This being the trimmed photograph of Hill at his desk with quill frequently encountered in text books etc. A remarkable survivor in superb fresh condition.

Morocco. Of immense philatelic importance, exquisite and of great rarity so fine.rnNote: Florence Margaret Davenport Hill (1829-1919). Niece of Rowland Hill, she lived with her sister Rosamund. The two sisters were both involved in prison reform,
