1942, 25 January, Netherlands, Railway accident at Vleuten, commercial cover from Stad aan t Haringvliet 24.1.42 to Utrecht with ms. endorsement "Door spoorwegongeval
beschadigd" alongside and multiple seals on reverse plus c.d.s. Utrecht Station 25.1.42. The accident happened about 7.30 a.m. when Express train 111 from The Hague to Germany via Utrecht hit the delayed electric train 605, which was waiting at
Vleuten, at full speed. The engine crashed into the rear coach, and virtually disappeared under the pile of steel and iron. Two persons were killed.
