Transit “Customs Shanghai” (6 Mar). In combination with French 1f tied by “Shang-hai, Chine” (7 Mar) cds. Arrived Hannover (14.Apr). Rare quadriple rate. Fig 3-88 in "The Small Dragon" by Michael M Y HO p. 200.

1889.2.26 北京寄德國，背貼小龍1分銀 + 7x 5分銀，合36分銀（另有2枚票被移除），銷北京中文戳記鈐“I.G. of Customs Peking”藍色日戳。 3.6經上海関。加貼法國票1法郎，銷3.7上海法局日戳。4.14抵漢諾威。四倍郵資例子甚為難得。何沐源著《小龍郵票》第200頁圖3-88原件。(Image 1) (Image 2)

14 cover image1889. Cover affixed with Small Dragon 3ca (perf 11-1/2; clean perf) and 2x 5 sen Japanese stamps. Chinese stamp not cancelled by Customs Post (probably posted directly into IJPO mail box), hence both cancelled by Shanghai IJPA (28 Nov) paying for double rate. However it was rated “3” times the basic rate hence “0.75”f due was to be charged for short-payment of 1 basic rate. Accordingly, the USPS put on a due mark and affixed 5x 2c due stamps on reverse to collect from the recipient. Florian Eichhorn certificate 1998. Fig 3-203 in "The Small Dragon" by Michael M Y HO, p.320.

1889. 寄美國，正貼11度半小龍光齒3分銀郵票，和日本5錢郵票橫雙連，支付超重郵資，應為海關漏蓋或逕自投入日本客郵局郵筒，故均銷11月28日上海日局日戳，12月 2日經橫濱，17日經舊金山，送往俄亥俄州。日本郵政評爲3倍起重但貼票僅支付2倍起重郵資，蓋上“T”欠資戳記，注上“3”（倍）和罰資“0.75” 法郎，據此，美國郵政蓋上-“應收10美分”戳記，並貼上2分欠資郵票5枚。帶德國Florian Eichhorn 1998證書。何沐源著《小龍郵票》第320頁圖3-203原件。(Image 1) (Image 2) (Image 3)
