4 cover image1882 (24 Apr) Tientsin to Italy. Cover bearing on reverse a 2x 1ca + 3ca + 5ca Large Dragon stamps cancelled by Tientsin Chinese killer, with Customs Tientsin cds alongside. Transit to Customs Shanghai (30 Apr). Transferred to French PO Shanghai, where French 25c stamp cancelled by ‘5104’diamond of dots, with Shang-hai cds ‘5 Mai 82’ alongside. Arrived Livorno (17 June). Part of cover back torn off. Not recorded in Large Dragons.

1882年，天津寄出，貼1分兩枚、加3分、5分大龍郵票，銷中文戳記，旁有天津海關4月24日日戳，30日經上海海關， 加貼法國25生丁郵票，銷5104鑽石點戳和上海法局5月5日日戳，到意大利。封背有缺。未見《大龍信封存世考》著錄。(Image 1) (Image 2)

Brilliant tri-colour franking of the Large Dragon complete set. Cover opened out for display.

Large Dragon thick paper, rough perf 3ca in horizontal strip of 3 (Setting XII; 23-4-8) on reverse, in total of 9ca single rate, tied by Tientsin Chinese seal, matching with Customs Tientsin cds alongside. Transit Customs Shanghai (6 Jun). In combination with French Peace and Commerce issue 25c, tied by Shanghai French PO (11 Jun) cds. Cover opened out for display. The strip owas once been lifted for examination but put back. In combination with Hong Kong QV WMK CA 5c in pair on front, tied by S1 obliterator, alongside with Shanghae BPO (20 Jun) cds. Transit Hong Kong (24 Jun). Arrived Kiel (1 Aug). It is believed that only 3 Large Dragon covers bearing the Customs Kukiang cds in red. With Holcombe certificate. 2014 (Jan) Spink Auction 14011, lot 2026 (realized HKD$900,000).

9 cover image1887 Kiukiang, 1887. (1 Mar) Kiukiang to Peking, bearing 1878 thin paper 1ca yellow-green Setting I, horizontal strip of three [3-4-5], cancelled by Customs Kiukiang type 1 cds in red, with another fine strike on reverse, as well as Customs Shanghai transit cds (3 Mar). Address partly excised and patched with white tape, nevertheless a very fine and rare usage from this town with its colored cacnellation.One of three Large Dragon covers recorded from Kiukiang. Also the last recorded date of use of the thin paper 1 candarin on cover. Provenance: Sir Percival David, Dr Warren G Kauder, James B Whang, Lam Man Yin. Large Dragons, p.534
